Baku, March 12 – AZƏRTAC.
The digital radio landscape in Azerbaijan is evolving! Starting today, the SYES 1000W DAB+ radio transmitter at the Baku Television Tower Complex has been replaced with a more powerful and modern 3000W DAB+ transmitter. This upgrade marks a significant step in enhancing digital radio broadcasting across the country.
According to the Teleradio Production Union, operating under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, a new 3000W DAB+ SYES transmitter has also been installed at the Gulustan Radio and Television Transmission Station in Ağsu. Equipped with an advanced antenna and power system, this upgrade extends the digital radio coverage to Ağsu, Şamaxı, İsmayıllı, and surrounding areas in the Central Aran region. Residents can now enjoy uninterrupted reception of 12 radio programs in a single-frequency network (SFN) at 223.936 MHz.
DAB+ digital radio is widely adopted across the European Union and other developed nations. Azerbaijan is actively implementing measures to transition to this advanced standard, in line with national digitization efforts. The goal is to enhance broadcasting quality, optimize frequency resources, introduce modern digital radio services, and reinforce radio signal security.
As the country transitions from FM to digital radio, factors such as the number of vehicles equipped with DAB+ radios, receiver availability, and public awareness are being carefully considered to ensure a smooth shift to the new standard.
Stay tuned for more updates on SYES projects around the world!
